Same Text, New Look: Resurrecting the Classics of Childhood

We have a special treat coming to Smathers Library East (Room 100) on Thursday, February 9, 2017. Frances Gilbert will be coming to give a talk entitled Same Text, New Look: Resurrecting the Classics of Childhood. Check out her bio below. We hope to see you there!

Frances Gilbert is the Associate Publishing Director of Random House Books for Young Readers. Prior to moving to Random House in 2012, Frances established and ran the children’s publishing division at Sterling Publishing for twelve years. Frances has been working in children’s books since she was fifteen: She worked in the children’s department of her town’s library in high school and continued library work as a student at the University of Toronto. She began her career in publishing at Scholastic Canada in 1994 as a Book Club Editor. Frances’s first two authored children’s books will be published in 2017: I Love Pink, a Step Into Reading leveled reader, and an abridgment of The Secret Garden for Little Golden Books.
